Scott Sanders, Partner and Co-Founder

Scott Sanders has over 12 years of experience in investment banking, raising over $25 billion for clients in Utilities and Cleantech. Prior to co-founding NIA, he was a Managing Director at Banc of America Securities in the Power and Utilities Group. In his over twelve years of capital markets and advisory experience, Scott has developed extensive senior corporate executive relationships.


Prior to joining Banc of America in 2005, Scott was a senior member in the Power Group of Salomon Smith Barney (which later became Citigroup). Scott began his investment banking career at New Harbor, a boutique Utility advisory firm. In addition to investment banking, Scott has experience in consulting, having worked for Deloitte Consulting’s Utility practice. Scott began his career as a regulator at the California Public Utilities Commission, working as an electric and natural gas utility advisor to Commissioner Patricia Eckert from 1990 to 1994.


Scott received his MBA from University of Chicago Graduate School of
Business and BS in Nuclear and Chemical Engineering from the University
of California, Berkeley.


Darren Sankbeil, Partner and Co-Founder

Darren Sankbeil has over 8 years of experience in investment banking, raising over $35 billion for clients in various industries. Prior to co-founding NIA, Darren was a Principal in the Global Industries Group at Banc of America Securities. He was responsible for coverage of the Cleantech and Engineering & Construction sectors. He also covered selected Diversified Industrial clients.


Prior to joining Banc of America, Darren worked in the Global Industrial
Group at Salomon Smith Barney (which later became Citigroup). At Salomon Smith Barney, Darren spent time in both the London and New York offices, covering clients in the Cleantech, Business Services, Automotive and Machinery sectors. Darren also work at Accenture as a business analyst in the financial services practice.


Darren received a BA in Economics with Honors from the University of Michigan and a MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
